finished at last...

Today was the final show of our school Christmas play. I have to say, I am so glad that it is all over. I miss having my kids in class, a normal schedule. And some control over my life. It is amazing how it rules the school. It did turn out quite nicely, but I had many days when I was just praying for the end. And alas.. It is here. I was in charge of seating parents today, which is quite possibly the worst job of the play. There were over 300 adults trying to cram into a small PE hall, with less chairs than people. I felt like an usher at a sold out movie. It is amazing how parents get about their children, it is like natural instinct when it comes to their kids... even when it is getting the best seats to see the show. I can understand if I was trying to eat their children in the wild, but asking them to move down a seat so some little old lady with a leg problem didn't have to crawl over them...is there any reason to get snippy? I just kept smiling and walking away quickly, and felt badly when I had to tell 20 odd parents that there was no room... fitting since it was a nativity play. Anyway, I was glad when the play finally started, and even more glad when it finished! We had a lovely reception in the canteen for all of the important people connected to the school, and it was nice to not think about the pplay. AND, I had my first introduction to Christmas Crackers. I am sure that these must be somewhere in the states, but I have had no prior experience with them. All this time I thought there were actual crackers inside... I was wrong, there are prizes, and jokes, and crowns! Fantastic! So the remaining staff and myself pulled them all (like thanksgiving wish-bones) and the winner get the prize inside. It was a good laugh. Which was nice since the majority of the staff is stressed out about Monday. One thing then the next. I guess on Monday perspective parents come school shopping and the are allowed to wonder around in and out of classrooms... sounds like lots of fun to me. So our classrooms have been in a constant state of chaos for weeks now, and then people are coming in to see the school. I know that I should be more stressed for them, but those of you that know me,.... well you know me. So I stayed and cleaned up my room from the play, but I just can get anything more done, so it is what it is. School will go on, and that will be that. I think that I will be so relieved to have a normal schedule when I get back from break. Speaking of break... I am really excited that i will be home in 1 week. That is so strange. Time here has absolutely flown by - So a few more gifts and I will be home!

Hey girl,
Glad the play is over and looking forward to even a more detailed account. I really just want you to act your kids' choreography for me. We have had crackers at Christmas dinners since I was little, and my mom just asked me to pick them up at Home Goods for her, so they are in the States. Take care girl. We will talk soon.

I knew you'd make it through it, Steph.

But I have never heard of Christmas crackers.... it made me laugh when I first read it, because Pam and I are always calling each other "cracker" or "crazy cracker".... yeah, we're kinda weird....

Enjoy your break!
