group consensus

I was having circle time with my kids today, and we were about to get ready to go outside for our break before lunch. I had dismissed the girls to the cloakroom (yes Wendy -- they too use the word cloak here..it's not just mom) and the boys and I were sitting in a circle. The little boy sitting next to me looked up at me, and said, "Miss Butler, do you have a brother." I answered yes, and he immediately responded with "Is he old?" I am not sure what brought this line of questioning on, but I answered that he was just a little older than I am. This discussion prompted more interest from the other boys, and from across the circle one of the little boys asked if I had a boyfriend.. thankfully the girls were coming out of the cloakroom, so I skirted the issue.. who knows where that question would lead.. and the little boy sitting next to me said " You know Miss Butler, you shouldn't have a boyfriend." I just smiled, and thought it would end at that... then he continued "Big boys are hairy." I am sure that his dad would be so proud. As I dismissed him to the cloakroom he walked away singing something about hairy men... I am not sure, but it was all I could do to keep my laughter in. Did I tell you guys... I love my class!

word of the day --

Another common word... for all my fly ladies and pimped out men....actually... I think this is more mate talk-- Like tell me about the guy/girl that you met last night over a pint/bottle of nailpolish.
fit- adj. attractive, hot, goodlooking
The girl I snogged last night was FIT!

Similar oddities

I've sat down several times to blog, and I have yet to complete it -- hopefully today will be the day. I am not overly optimistic though because my fingers are freezing... it was actually a beautiful day today, but in my house... COLD! I am trying to conserve fuel because it is quite expensive and I would like it to last as long as possible-- so I have been just using it a little at night, and a little in the morning, but the house seems bitter when I get home from school. Anyway, I had a quite lazy weekend. I really had no motivation to do anything. That is two weekends in a row. I have been feeling under the weather, but I think that I am getting better-- especially after this weekend's rest. Anyway, while Iounging around I was flipping through the channels on the television, and I stumbled upon the channel that often broadcasts sports -- all kinds of sports. I am amazed at the variety of sports. The enthusiasm for sport here rivals OSU football. Sunday's sport was bocci... you don't actually throw the little ball, and it was in an indoor arena but it was basically Bocci. So I was sitting on my couch thinking... wow that is kind of ridiculous... a bocci tournament on TV, that is taking sport a little too far... then I was brought back to reality... we have bowling on television and bass fishing, so really again, Belfast and the US are not so different... we are at least similar in the odd ways!

Word of the day --

So it has been awhile since I've posted a word of the day. I am afraid the vocabulary is becoming usual to me so I have to listen with the intent of relaying vocabulary home.
Today's word is do.
do - n., a party
Are you going to the Christmas do?
I really have only heard it in reference to work parties, so I am not sure if any party can be a do. Hope that you have planned your Christmas do!
